MS Direct increases capacity and opens new location in Oftringen

St. Gallen, October 29, 2025 - The MS Direct Group is further expanding its logistics infrastructure: From November 3, 2025, the internationally active e-commerce logistics service provider will put a second automated fulfillment location in Oftringen (AG) in Switzerland into operation. At the same time, the company continues to invest in state-of-the-art automation technology in Arbon (TG). With over 100,000 containers in the AutoStore warehouse system at two locations and the use of AI and autonomous robots, MS Direct is equipped to meet the increasing demands of e-commerce fulfillment.

MS Direct delivers products to the customer quickly and reliably following an online order. This order fulfillment ranges from goods receipt, storage and picking to shipping and returns management.

Strategic expansion to Oftringen

The new location in Oftringen offers ideal logistical conditions: The central location and immediate proximity to important shipping hubs enable shorter transportation routes and faster delivery times. The former Swiss Post logistics warehouse is already equipped with an automated AutoStore storage system, which will be seamlessly integrated into the existing network.

“With Oftringen, we are creating the ideal complement to Arbon,” explains CEO Luca Graf. “The central location and the existing AutoStore infrastructure will allow us to respond even more flexibly to our customers’ needs and significantly increase our capacities.”

The gradual relocation will start on November 3, 2025 and is scheduled for completion in spring 2026. MS Direct will then manage over 100,000 AutoStore containers at both locations.

Arbon becomes a smart logistics hub

In parallel with its expansion, MS Direct is systematically driving forward the technological transformation at the Arbon site. The former industrial site has long since developed into a modern e-commerce logistics center. And the development continues:

  • Doubling capacity in the AutoStore: The AutoStore capacity in Arbon was doubled from 30,000 to 60,000 containers in June 2025.
  • Intelligent conveyor technology: In October 2025, the Arbon Fulfillment Center was expanded to include a dynamically controlled conveyor system that seamlessly connects the AutoStore, incoming goods and packing process. The control system was developed and programmed in-house. Together with the 1.4 kilometers of conveyor technology already installed in 2023 for returns processes, this creates a highly efficient internal transport system.
  • AI-supported picking: In January 2026, MS Direct will put additional AI-controlled picking robots into operation, which use a vision-language-action model to independently recognize, pick and place items from the auto-store. Thanks to zero-shot learning, they can also safely handle previously unknown products without prior training.
  • Autonomous Mobile Robots: Since summer 2025, MS Direct has been operating AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots), which further automate the flow of goods in internal transportation.

“We rely on intelligent automation that takes the pressure off our teams and at the same time makes processes more precise and efficient,” explains Fabrizio Anner, CTO at MS Direct. “For us, technology is not an end in itself. It has to make our employees’ work easier and bring real added value to our customers. This is exactly what we achieve with the combination of AI, robotics and digital processes.”

Scalability for the future

“If you want to grow in e-commerce, you need logistics that think ahead and systems that adapt to requirements,” says Christian Neumayer, COO. “The combination of scalability and technological depth makes us the ideal partner for e-commerce companies that are focusing on growth.”

With its dual strategy of location expansion and automation offensive, MS Direct is positioning itself as a leading fulfillment partner in the Swiss e-commerce market and creating the basis for further growth.
